Roll-on Roll-off Operations

Serving a number of ports and routes requires regularly scheduled departures and fast turn around times to insure reliability. To maintain a defined timetable, rapid loading and unloading of cars and trucks is essential. SeaBridge ships will provide “Roll-on Roll-off” loading in which trucks and cars simply drive themselves quickly on and off the ship.

This practice is frequently employed in Europe and reduces port turn around time to 1-2 hours. In addition to speed, another advantage is that necessary port infrastructure is very minimal, thus reducing capital cost for port facilities.

Truckers have the option of either driving the tractor-trailer on board and then accompanying the load, or sending the trailer only. For unaccompanied trailers, SeaBridge moves the trailer onto the ship using its own specially built tractor. In either case, the process is extremely efficient, which in turn reduces overall journey time.
